SYMPTOMS OF PAXIL WITHDRAWAL

I am always getting asked, "Could this be Paxil withdrawal?" Here are the things that can take place:

PAXIL WITHDRAWAL IN THE BODY

Paxil withdrawal Sweating Increased - A large quantity of perspiration that is medically caused.

Paxil withdrawal Cardiovascular (Involving the heart and the blood vessels)

Paxil withdrawal Palpitation - Unusual and not normal heartbeat, that is sometimes irregular, but rapid and forceful thumping or fluttering. It can be brought on by shock, excitement, exertion, or medical stimulants. A person is normally unaware of his/her heartbeat.

Paxil withdrawal Hypertension - is high blood pressure, which is a symptom of disease in the blood vessels leading away from the heart. Hypertension is known as the “silent killer”. The symptoms are usually not obvious, however it can lead to damage to the heart, brain, kidneys and eye, and even to stroke and kidney failure. Treatment includes dietary and lifestyle changes.

Paxil withdrawal Bradycardia - The heart rate is slowed from 72 beats per minute, which is normal, to below 60 beats per minute in an adult.

Paxil withdrawal Tachycardia - The heart rate is speeded up to above 100 beats per minute in an adult. Normal adult heart rate is 72 beats per minute.

Paxil withdrawal ECG Abnormal - A test called an electrocardiogram (ECG) that records the activity of the heart. It measures heartbeats as will as the position and size of the heart’s four chambers. It also measures if there is damage to the heart and the effects of drugs or mechanical devices like a pacemaker on the heart. When the test is abnormal this means that one or more of the following are present: heart disease, defects, beating too fast or too slow, disease of the blood vessels leading from the heart or of the heart valves, and/or a past or about to occur heart attack.

Paxil withdrawal Flushing - The skin all over the body turns red.

Paxil withdrawal Varicose Vein - Unusually swollen veins near the surface of the skin that sometimes appear twisted and knotted, but always enlarged. They are called hemorrhoids when they appear around the rectum. The cause is attributed to hereditary weakness in the veins aggravated by obesity, pregnancy, pressure from standing, aging, etc. Severe cases may develop swelling in the legs, ankles and feet, eczema and/or ulcers in the affected areas.

PAXIL WITHDRAWAL GASTROINTESTINAL (Involving the stomach and the intestines)

Antidepressants and Death

When is the FDA going to see the direct link between antidepressants and suicide, school shootings and violence? Paxil is banned in children in the UK. The MHRA (like our FDA) set up a review committee to analyze these drugs and have found no benefit, only risk. We now have this info. So why are we allowing our children to be drugged? Why aren't our physicians educated about these risks? We put our families at risk now by leaving the house, sending our children to schools, to malls, off to college..it's time to correct the problem. Its time to educate the public and demand answers.

PAXIL CAUSES EIGHTFOLD RISK OF SUICIDE IN ADULTS!

An inappropriate analysis of clinical trial data by researchers at GlaxoSmithKline obscured suicide risks associated with paroxetine, a profitable antidepressant, for 15 years, suggest court documents released last month. Not until 2006 did GSK alert people to raised suicide risks associated with the drug, marketed as Paxil and Seroxat.

An analysis of internal GSK memos and reports, which were released to US lawyers seeking damages, suggests that the company had trial data demonstrating an eightfold increase in suicide risk as early as 1989. Harvard University psychiatrist Joseph Glenmullen, who studied the papers for the lawyers, says it's "virtually impossible" that GSK simply misunderstood the data - a claim the company describes as "absolutely false".

Glenmullen's report rests on documents obtained by lawyers in Los Angeles, who are bringing around 30 cases against GSK linking suicides and suicide attempts to the use of Paxil. The report was under seal at a district court in Sacramento, California, until 18 January, when the judge agreed to make parts of it public.

Several pages from the report were withheld by the judge, but Chuck Grassely, a Republican senator for Iowa, wrote to GSK on 6 February asking that the missing sections be made public.

"With new questions about when GlaxoSmithKline knew about risks for suicidal behavior compared to when it let the public know about those risks, it seems like it'd be in the drug maker's best interest to provide every bit of information about this issue," said Grassely. "At this point, any sense that more information is being withheld only leads to more suspicion about what went on and what still might be going on. The public has a right to know what there is to know about this and other drugs."

The analysis focuses on the "washout" phase preceding a trial, when subjects stop taking most or all medications to avoid confusion with results from the trial itself. Because the washout occurs before patients randomly receive either the drug or the placebo control, adverse events during this time can't be attributable to the trial and so are seldom if ever included in final results.

However, GSK researchers submitting data on Paxil to the US Food and Drug Administration in the late 1980s and early 1990s included suicides and suicide attempts from the washout period in the results for the placebo arms of trials, but not from the Paxil arms. Glenmullen alleges that these extra "placebo" suicides negated suicides attributed to Paxil in the trials, making the drug appear safer than it really was. He says that if the washout results had been excluded, the data would have showed that Paxil increased eightfold the risk of suicidal behaviour in adults.

GSK spokeswoman Mary Anne Rhyne says inclusion of the washout data "was intended to present the full picture of events that occurred in all phases of the clinical trials - starting from the time patients were enrolled, before they were randomised". She says that even without the washout data, Paxil still came out as safe as the placebo in this trial. She accused Glenmullen of incorrectly analysing the data to reach the opposite conclusion, but didn't respond to a request for numerical proof that Glenmullen's verdict was wrong.

Glenmullen suggests that the FDA would have acted differently had the use of the washout data been made more explicit. Rhyne says that material still under seal shows the FDA to be fully aware of how the washout data was being used. But Glenmullen quotes Martin Brecher, the FDA official who reviewed Paxil's safety, as agreeing during a pre-trial hearing that the use of the washout data was "scientifically illegitimate".

Independent researchers say it was wrong to use washout data as GSK did. "I can't imagine circumstances in which it would be appropriate," says Bruce Psaty of the University of Washington in Seattle.

GSK Bamboozles FDA...the pressure is on..

FOX NEWS...GSK under investigation. Lies are brought forth.
We have seen the harm antidepressants can cause and the extent to which GSK will go to protect their enormously profitable drugs. Paxil is associated with an increased risk of suicidality in ALL age groups, not just children and young adults, and GSK is aware of the risk and yet chose not to warn the public of this serious risk. Instead, GSK over promoted the benefits of the drug while downplaying the risks.

On October 15, 2004, the FDA asked antidepressant manufacturers to add a black box warning to their labels to alert health care providers to an increased risk of suicidality caused by antidepressants in children and adolescents. On May 2, 2007, the FDA announced that it had asked antidepressant manufacturers to expand the current black box warnings concerning the increased risk of suicidality in children and adolescents to include young adults, but only ages 18 to 24. Of course we know now that this warning should include people of all ages, as Dr. David Healy has noted after looking at GSK's raw data.

Please help our Children

No parent should have to bury a child as a result of a medication that was supposed to bring happiness back to a child and peace. No parent should have self-blame. These drugs should have never gone from the bottle to our babies mouths. The pain of losing what we have protected for so long is inexcusable and unbearable. My prayers go out to all these families. Until you have cleaned your own child's blood from the flooring and are scared to look behind closed doors, you may never understand the pain of this. Pay it forward and help our children.

UNITED STATES DOCS...PLEASE WATCH AND LEARN

Below I have included Panorama's series...Seroxat (Paxil) Taken on Trust. It is their TV Series, much like 20/20 here in the states. They have looked into GSK and have banned the use in children. Why are our docs still prescribing? The info is out there, its just a matter of taking the next 45 minutes and learning from all the hard work the UK has done....4 years ago!

THE UK PANORAMA….SEROXAT (PAXIL) TAKEN ON TRUST

Hopefully Senator Grassley and the FBI investigation can shed some light on the FDA here in the states. Note that Dr. Healy was the Doc given access to the archives and has stated WE ARE ALL AT RISK...CHILDREN, YOUNG ADULTS, AND ADULTS...
Three components were learned here....
1. the drug increases risk of suicide for all age groups
2. the drug loses efficacy after 20 mg
3. risk comes with ANY dose change, increase or decrease.

Also, note the drug was addicting after only 6 weeks, but GSK didn't seemed to care about that study, the researcher stated.

What are we doing to our children?

Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Naaaaaaaaaahhh

THE PROSECUTER AND THE FBI “were quite interested in how Study 329 was used to promote Paxil for teenagers and kids by clinical researchers Glaxo had underwritten,” Murgatroyd tells the paper

INVESTIGATION OF GLAXO'S PAXIL WIDENS: (Wallstreet Journal)

Fri Jun 20, 9:04 AM ET

A U.S. Department of Justice investigation into whether GlaxoSmithKline PLC withheld data about the suicide risks of the antidepressant drug Paxil is widening, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

In its online editions, the newspaper said Glaxo confirmed that a previously disclosed Colorado-based investigation of its marketing practices also includes the U.S. attorney's office in Boston and is being coordinated by the agency in Washington.

Federal investigators in Boston last year asked lawyers for families that are suing Glaxo for information, documents and depositions concerning Paxil's potential link to suicidal behavior, and how the company portrayed that risk to doctors and the Food and Drug Administration.

Glaxo told the newspaper the company has responded to questions from the government and cooperated fully with the department.

Earlier this month, U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley asked regulators to investigate whether Glaxo withheld data about the risk of suicide when it applied for U.S. approval to market the drug.

School Shooters...

How hard is it to figure this out....1+1=2
Antidepressants cause suicide and mania. The drugs cause violence!

Antidepressants in Congress...these kids have no reason to be on drugs.

Lies are Lies. There needs to be a better screening system. Children should not be on antidepressants. The FDA should be following the suit of the UK on this. Let Psychiatrists decide how to help children through cognitive therapy, not drugging them to make them more pliable for schools. We can see with the school shootings where this is leading.

What tapering off Paxil looks like......

Yes, sad isn't it. This is what tapering off Paxil looks like. This was done by my invisible friend Summer who recently had an article published here:For a Paxil-Free Life, She'll Take the Long Route
in the LA TIMES! Horray Summer for bringing Paxil forward!
Anyhow this is what it comes to....filing pills to get exact measurements, an a whole array of bits and chips that you need with you at all times....there should be a better way, shouldn't there? BUT THERE IS NOT! Then when the pieces get to the point where the chipping and filing is almost impossible....it is time to start taking it from a dropper (very much like a hamster!) Sad, huh? This is what we can thank our "big pharma" for....the hidden studies that have led thousands of us to become addicted to these drugs that advertised on TV (Paxil is not addictive!). Therefore we have all had to become pharmacists to chop and dice our pills so we don't kill ourselves and keep our lives going.

Prescription suicide...why kids shouldn't be on antidepressants.

Note, the United Kingdom has banned the use of antidepressants on children. Why aren't we following suit? I received a letter from a mom whose 3 year old was on Paxil and stabbing her legs with a fork and cutting herself with her toys.? Is this right? Why? Would you put your child on this medication? We did....because we didn't know. And its hell to get them off.

SSRI facts with David Healy

My son who raised my awareness....cutting

My son started Paxil for social anxiety..fear of answering the phone or the door. Fear that he wasn't good enough or didn't fit in with the other kids. He talked of suicide. It scared me. He tried to explain his anxiety. I wanted to be the good mom so we visited our family practitioner and he immediately put Brandon on Paxil. The anxiety escalated quickly. I was reassuring and kept reminding him it took months for the drugs to kick in and he would feel better soon. He felt worse. He began to talk of finding a gun and killing himself. He texted his girlfriend and kept telling her he was going to kill himself. He spent many nights in his closet in solitude. One evening, I walked in...and this is a picture of almost exactly what I found:

Immediately we knew he needed help that we couldn't provide. We called and had him admitted into a psychiatric hospital within an hour. He was in such distress they made him remove his shoestrings, belts, and such. He signed himself in. It cost us in excess os 28,000 dollars. But how can you put a price on your child's life. What did they do?? Increase his Paxil....more talk of self-harm. When he discussed it they told him they would lock him in the "white room" and he would be fed under the door. I cried so hard for my son.. I felt it was my fault. Now we know it was the Paxil dosage change. A common misconception is that kids cut for "attention". This was just not true. He hid his cutting under long sleeves to hide his secret. Had I not found him that night, I don't know how much more he would have done.
"When I cut myself I feel so much better. All the little things that might have been annoying me suddenly seem so trivial because I'm concentrating on the pain. I'm not a person who can scream and shout so this is my only outlet. It's all done very logically." As you can see, the cuts are immaculate and neat. Some nights he worked on this for hours. One day the school counselor had me pick him up. He was sitting in the corner of her office crying with blood oozing from his arms...He was ashamed that under his long sleeves, someone had told his secret. This was only the beginning of our Paxil quest for answers...Thus the book.

PICTURES OF MY BABY SARAH IN PAXIL WITHDRAWAL..NICU

Four docs worked around Sarah within 15 minutes of her life, through medical intensive care, were able to save her from Paxil withdrawal. I was on Paxil 40mg throughout my pregnancy and was told that it would have no effect on my baby's life.....The pics tell the real story that GSK didn't. Several months later, the warnings came out...By then I was just another mom who had to go home without her baby.

We lost her for while and got her back with the help of machinery. It was a mothers nightmare that is hard to even look at today, four years later.

A documentary of a person attempting to come off Paxil:

I can certainly relate from the numbness to having to feel like you are going crazy and crying. It is so sad that so many people have yet to get off this "nonaddictive" drug and suffer. Why won't the FDA listen. Why must there be corporate killing. For hell sakes, get the data out there to the public...we are and won't stop until we do.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

How many lies can you catch.....? Now that suicide in kids has been proven.

Note: GSK calls children in their studies as 'emotionally labile" Who would know what that means???? It means suicidal.
How long would you want to wait to find out a drug may cause you suicide? This took years for them to tell the public. GSK showed only the studies to the MHRA that were positive. The only side effect they found other than being "emotionally labile" was that of a headache........I think it is time that we know as public that emotionally labile is suicide. Clean up after your child's blood on the floor and then listen to them squirm as they say the drugs are safe.
